Wood pellets in your house.
I’ve got a powerful desire to talk about woo pellets because environmental protection is the main concern in my life. Everybody knows that it’s impossible to continue with using fossil fuels till the end of the world. So there’s an urgent substitute for them. And we can consider wood pellets to be a perfect substitute for those traditional fuels mentioned above.

So let’s compare expenses for wood pellets and traditional fuels. In fact it’s not easy to make such a comparison. For example general expenses for gas heating is 3-4 times lower than heating with wood pellets. However, if you take into account the cost of new pipelines for gas supply then wood pellets will definitely win in this case.

Now let’s describe wood pellets. In general I can say that these tiny things are cylindrical in shape being pressed under high pressure. In many countries wood pellets are widely used as the primary fuel for automated boilers both for private and industrial purposes. In most cases people are satisfied with their enormous calorific value which is supposed to be comparable with the quality of coal and other similar fuels. I should emphasize that wood pellets are especially popular in Denmark, Austria and Sweden. These countries are also considered to be the real leaders in the production of the equipment for pellet combustion.

As for the dimensions of wood pellets they are usually 6-8 mm in diameter and 5-70 mm long, depending on numerous factors such as the quality of the production of wood pellets as well the raw materials, although it should be noted that there are wood pellets with other dimensions. In most cases the humidity of wood pellets is approximately 7-10%, which allows them to be successfully used in correspondent boilers. By the way I’d like to tell you one peculiar detail closely connected with wood pellets. The matter is that if you throw one pellet of high quality into the water it won’t sink. But bad wood pellets are likely to sink during this trial. May be it’s not so essential but it’s very interesting to learn.

It’s advisable to memorize that 1 kg of pellets can give us a considerable amount of energy which can reach up to 5 kW per hour. But at the same time you shouldn’t forget about the efficiency of the device where you burn them. I think that it’s very essential to know that this stuff isn’t likely to overflow in your home, contaminating everything and leaving behind an unpleasant smell. It goes without saying that it does not explode from an accidental spark. So there’s no need to be afraid of storing this stuff in your house. Just invite this stuff in your house.

In the list of many energy saving alternatives, we seriously recommend you to learn more about wood pellets.

This is a short list of advantages of using wood pellets. They are not sophisticated; they do not require huge investments into expensive “machinery”; they are ecological in the heart of it. Please invest part of your time into finding out more about wood pellets - it is really vital now.

Shape a new world with your pellet stove.
Our mankind has finally realized that we should start a new era right now. Otherwise human beings can disappear. We can simply disperse themselves in the depth of the universe. And I think that it would be rather fair because we should pay for all our actions. Unfortunately we’ve done a lot of fatal things. You know it’s closely connected with our attitude to the Earth. Though Earth is our native home we’ve been doing harm for our planet. It’s a shocking experience I think. Somebody from the outer space might think that we are going to commit suicide. Really there are some evident facts pointing out to this. The matter is that we’ve already destroyed and spoilt many unique things on the Earth. I think that we can wait for some time and this bomb will be set off. I mean the total destruction of our civilization which is quite possible if we don’t change the mankind completely.

We need new approaches for everything. We should completely new. It seems to me that we should be born ones again to be free of our current weak points. I think that being born once again can’t be harmful for us. Certainly this statement shouldn’t understand directly. Sure it’s somewhat hyperbolized. Every day it’s getting harder to breathe in due to the air pollution. I’ve heard from old people about the pure water of rivers and lakes. Yes, earlier you could make a stop by a river in order to take a couple of sips right at that river. Now it sounds to be dangerous but at that time nobody was afraid of drinking water from rivers because their water wasn’t polluted yet. For us living in the entirely polluted world it seems to be a fantasy. But that was real anyway. And moreover we must make it arise once again though it’s not easy at all.

There’s no more evident fact that we need energy every day. The whole world can’t exist without energy. But we keep on burning fossil fuels every day. And endless by – products of this every day burning proceeds with slowly killing us and everything alive on this planet. Certainly it’s clear that further burning fossil fuels must be given up immediately. Instead of it different alternative sources of energy should be used. Unfortunately it’s almost impossible to carry out very quickly. But even for ordinary consumers there’s a possibility to take part in shaping a new world.

If you can’t wait any more, purchase a pellet stove and get a pleasure of using it immediately. Pellet stoves can be designed just for burning a particular kind of pellets, for example corn pellets. But there are rather universal pellet stoves for any kind of pellets. The main thing is that you’ll have an opportunity to use a real environmentally friendly technology for your home.

It is really amazing how gifted humans get when the time comes to be more self sufficient about energy. The energy crisis that is rumored about pushed many people to inventing alternative ways of taking care of energy issues. One of them - wood pellets which are really great and ecologically smart.

Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

November 6, 2009 by Go Green Tips · Leave a Comment

There are two different types of wind turbine; Vertical and Horizontal. Each one performs their own function and they each of their advantages and their disadvantages. You should pick the one that is best for you and your needs. They do have one thing in common and that is that they produce energy from winds. They just do it in a different way. Vertical axis turbine has the main rotor shaft running vertically instead of horizontally. This direction can have its advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is the gearbox can be put in the bottom of the turbine, unlike the horizontal turbines. All the weight is not at the top of the tower.

It also does not need to be pointed in the direction of the wind. The disadvantages of vertical axis wind turbines is that there can be pulsating torques that can happen during each turn when the turbine is running in the same direction as the wind. They produce a smaller amount of energy from the wind.

Different Types of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines
Windmill with a rotation sail. This type of turbine is the newest out there as it looks like sails on a ship once it is up and running. The sails can expand or contract to the changing winds. There is three sails on it and the speed is managed through magnetic counter that expands or contracts these vertical sails. It has a control unit that will help to control the sails so the damage will be minimal. The sails might tear but the frame is durable and will last through the storms.

Aerodynamic turbine is made up of airfoil base that is designed to capture the kinetic energy flowing from an artificial current to the center. It can utilize most of the air mass that passes through by redirecting it over the upper turbines. It can respond to wind and also rivers, creeks, oceans or other free flowing water systems.

Darrieus Wind Turbines are efficient but because of their size and shape they can produce cyclic stress on the tower which can wear it out sooner. It features three blades that work well in higher winds. They are held up by external structures that are connected from the ground up.

Giromill is a type of meal that features three vertical blades. It is self starting so the maintenance is low. These types of mills a low blade speed but they can create a high performance and success in channeling the energy from every turn of the blade.

Savonius Wind Turbine mills have two scoops that are used for wind conversion. Some do come in three scoops that make it self starting. They look like long helicopter blades that are bent in a direction. This style and shape is to provide enough energy to be adequate.

Windstar Turbines has straight aluminum blades that are attached on each end of the rotating shaft. This windmill features more than one rotor and they each have their own dual braking system that has pneumatic disc brakes. They are designed for strong powerful winds.

The advantages to running a vertical axis wind turbine is that they are easier to maintain and reduce cost, can withstand almost all wind, low high, smaller and easier to transport. The disadvantages are they take twice as much time to produce efficient energy from winds, need to be installed on flat land, low starting torque, some models use guyed wires which can add stress to the bottom. The design and the preference of the consumer make the best choice when it comes to choosing the right one for you.
